Working Principle

The ozone electrolysis operates on the principle of electrolytic water splitting, a process in which water (H₂O) is decomposed into ozone (O₃), and hydrogen (H₂) through the application of electrical energy. The titanium electrodes coated with tin facilitate the conversion of oxygen into ozone, a highly reactive form of oxygen used for various applications.

During the electrolysis process, oxygen molecules (O ₂) accept electrons at the anode and undergo the following reaction:

O2 + 2e- → O22-

Then, the oxygen ion O22- further loses electrons at the anode, generating ozone:

O22-→ O2 + O + 2e-

O2 + O → O3

The overall response can be expressed as:

3O2 + 6e- → 2O3 + 6e-
